DJ, Drinks..chillout unterstreichen die Arbeiten. Die Hallen sind relativ kühl, falls die Hitze nicht nachlässt und eine große Gartenterasse ist am vorhanden.

„Die Bundespräsidentin“ hängt derzeit in der Ausstellung „Freiraum Kunst“ im Schloss Bellevue, direkt an der Bürowand des aktuellen Bundespräsidenten. Die Arbeit war in der Tagesschau, den Tagesthemen und vielen Zeitschriften Weltweit abgedruckt. Hier gibt es den Print zum 3,3m original.

30 Jahre Straßenaction. Nun hänge ich beim Bundespräsidenten im Büro und gehe trotzdem nachts raus, um die Stadt zu prägen. Viele Zehntausend Stunden, Energie und Geld sind dafür geflossen und haben meine Arbeit und mich geprägt. Es hat sich gelohnt.
Von Galerieeröffnungen in Tokyo über Installationen zwischen Junkies in São Paulo bis zum Malen im Kibera-Slum in Nairobi. Momente, die nicht zu kaufen sind und einem die Welt in ihren vielen Facetten zeigen. Top-Künstler, viele Drinks, Liebe und viel Kleister an den Klamotten – alles war dabei, und es lohnt sich noch immer.
Viele Kollegen habe ich kommen und gehen sehen. Von den Anfängen ist kein Einziger mehr aktiv. Die Verantwortung der Künstler, aktiv in den Stadtraum einzugreifen, ist wichtiger denn je. Die Qualität im öffentlichen Raum hat stark nachgelassen und ist zu einem Brei aus Photoshop geworden.
Wenige Künstler liefern über einen langen Zeitraum Qualität und Quantität und nutzen den öffentlichen Raum so, wie wir ihn bespielen sollten. Dankeschön an diese Kollegen.
Ich werde weitermachen, bis eine Generation erscheint, die das liefert, was der öffentliche Raum braucht, und es besser macht. Bis dahin bleibt mir treu und bekommt selbst den Arsch hoch! Dann sehen wir uns auf der Straße und verändern die Stadt gemeinsam.

104GALERIE (Nakameguro, Tokyo) is holding PINK, a solo exhibition by El Bocho, from October 18 (Sat) to November 15 (Sat) 2025.
This exhibition, the artist’s third at the gallery, seven years since the last, will feature approximately 30 pieces of new work. In addition, a collaborative installation work will be created with a group of street artists from Berlin that he is visiting Japan with.
El Bocho studied design in school, before he moved to Berlin. He began his career as a street artist in a place that, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, saw reconstruction as a city, and he has pursued painting of the longing and joy in life, with the theme of “everyday life in a metropolitan city.” At the same time, he questions the people who live in the city through his work, in which the eyes of figures seem to pierce right through the viewer. El Bocho has also engaged in creative work beyond Berlin. His wide field of practice as an artist and his sincere attitude to the history and memories of the places he visits have secured recognition as one of the foremost street artists in Berlin. He has held solo exhibitions not only in major cities in Germany, but also in Japan, Russia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Brazil, France, and Italy, and he continues to produce murals all over the world.
In PINK, which consists entirely of new work, we can see a new side of El Bocho in the colors and brushstrokes. All of the canvases are painted with a new distinctive approach, in aggressive neon pink developed with additional details.
The motifs featured in the work of El Bocho are universal things: portraits, flowers, buildings – elements that painters have worked on for centuries. However, what he expresses through these familiar motifs are themes unique to himself, such as contemporary urban life, and he continues a process of communication with the city that has never ceased since he began producing street art. In this exhibition, these core themes remain present, yet he develops the work with new themes such as the movement of the population from city centers to suburbia in “Waiting for the Flood”, and managing the fear and uncertainty driven by ongoing climate change in “Homeland”.
The issues of contemporary urban cities are also relevant to Tokyo, as they are universal conditions. Against the undercurrent of complications and pessimism about the future, love towards humans and hope for the future in bright colors spring out at us between Berlin and Tokyo. We hope many of you will grasp the opportunity to experience El Bocho’s first visit to Tokyo for seven years.
An opening reception with the artist will be held on October 18 (Sat) from 17:00. We hope to see many of you there.
